Dry aged shatter

Post by Dick Fein »

I had 30 or so grams of BHO that I just partially purged and then poured into 5 gram puds.
Then I put them in my humidor and forgot about them for 9 months.
Now I am running a little low on shatter so I dug them out and put them in the vacuum chamber.
Some of them crystallized and turned sugary in storage and it will be interesting to see how flavorful it is because after only a few hours in the chamber I am getting virtually no bubbles.

Dry aged shatter

Post by Lrus007 »

older BHO does sugar up over time.
i dono if that is good or bad.
but i have seen it and read about it.
at a leg store is a way to see that there oil is older.
the sugared is at a lower price at store.
i have stored BHO that is old now lol 5+ years.
it has not sugared. so storage is why it sugars.
i store oil in mason jars with a coffee filter as a lid.
open air dark cool room. it seems to keep stable
that way. hope this helps cheers

The clubs keep everything in refrigerators to keep it from changing forms.

I don’t smoke much BHO anymore but for rosin I see it as a good sign when it changes at room temp after 3-4 days, not a fan of the more runny oils.

It turned out more like a wax. Clear as glass after 24 hours in the chamber but never hardened and I had to scrape it off the parchment.

House temps can play a role.....I notice a difference between 68 degrees I keep my house at winter and 76 I keep the house at in summer.

I have had great reviews from my dry-aged shatter. It has not lost anything from my neglect, in fact, I think patience is a better word to use.
Minimal processing = better product.

I gave my new patient some of this stuff and he told me it is the best thing he has ever smoked. You gotta like that.
I am beginning an experiment to see how long it needs to be dry-aged to achieve consistent results.
