Dog whistle : illegal votes

Post by Intrinsic »

“We Support the Police” = "We Hate People of Color."

Illegal votes = black votes

Trump is still saying that he has won the election if the “legal” votes are counted and the “illegal” votes are not counted. Just what the hell makes a vote “legal” or “illegal” in Trump’s mind? The race of the voter, that’s what. A white voter probably cast a “legal” vote, a black voter almost certainly cast an “illegal” vote.

https://atlantablackstar.com/2020/11/06 ... ck-cities/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thursday evening, ... Donald Trump gave a speech from the White House, during which he accused multiple cities of rigging the election, and doubled-down on a false narrative about illegal votes being counted as ballots are totaled in several key states.

“If you count the legal votes, I easily win,” he said. “If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election from us.”

As Trump continued to tout his “massive victories” in multiple states, and complain about “illegal votes,” MSNBC cut away from the speech, and anchor Brian Williams quickly rebuked his statements.

“Here we are again in the unusual position of not only interrupting the president of the United States but correcting the president of the United States,” he said. “There are no illegal votes that we know of. There has no been no Trump victory that we know of.”

In particular, Trump took aim at Philadelphia and Detroit, calling the cities “two of the most corrupt political places” in the country. He said the cities can’t be responsible for “engineering the outcome of the presidential race.”

In Philadelphia, just over 80 percent of votes have been cast for Joe Biden, while less than 19 percent have been in favor of Trump.

In Detroit, Biden has won more than 90 percent of the vote.

“They’re trying to steal the election; they’re trying to rig the election,” Trump said.

After the speech, Trump was accused of singling-out Black cities as politically corrupt places.

“Why is he talking about Detroit? Why is he talking about Philadelphia? It’s not subtle, it’s race,” said David Axelrod, former advisor for president Barack Obama.

CNN’s Van Jones raised similar questions. “Why are you singling out these two Black cities? It feels racial,” he said.

But some of them also have signs that say “build the wall.” They don’t actually care about the wall being built or that Trump has failed to get it built. “Build the wall” is a convenient shorthand for “we hate people who are not white.” Kind of like “Arbeit frei macht.”

253 bills to restrict voting rights equals a Republican war on democracy
By Laura Clawson

With more than 250 bills restricting voting rights having been introduced in 43 states, “We are seeing the weaponization of Trump’s big lie,” Ari Melber said on CNN. “All around the country, Republicans are pointing to the fact that so many of their voters believe the election was stolen as a reason to cut back on voting. So, for two months, Trump said the election was stolen and afterwards, now we are seeing Republicans in state after state, including all of these key swing states like Georgia and Arizona, rush to restrict access to the ballot.”
..
Georgia Republicans have already pushed a bill through the state House that Stacey Abrams-founded voting rights organization Fair Fight called “a dangerous attempt to roll back voting rights, leading to longer lines and more restrictive rules for absentee ballots while limiting weekend voting and threatening Georgians’ privacy by creating opportunities for identity theft just to request a mail-in ballot.” That bill not only requires voter ID for mail-in ballots, it also restricts early voting, gives voters less time to request mail ballots and elections officials less time to mail them out, limits the use of ballot drop boxes, and specifically targets Sunday early voting—widely used by Black churches for “souls to the polls” voter turnout.

Let's just be honest,” Georgia Episcopal Bishop Reginald Thomas Jackson said at a Fair Fight Action event. “This bill is racist.”

Rev. James Woodall, president of the Georgia NAACP, called it one of the “most egregious, dangerous, and most expensive voter suppression acts in this entire nation, rolling back years of hardball progress and renewing our own reputation for discrimination.”

That’s just one of 22 bills restricting voting proposed in Georgia. The same number of anti-voting bills have been proposed in Arizona. It’s not a coincidence that those were two of the highest-profile red-to-blue flips in 2020, with President Joe Biden picking up their electoral votes and with three new Democratic senators elected, flipping control of the Senate.

Ballot drop boxes are under attack in Pennsylvania and Virginia. Mail-in absentee ballots are under attack in Arizona, a state where 61% of voters cast a mail ballot in 2012 without controversy.

Republicans lost at the polls and they face demographic headwinds in the years to come, so they’re attacking voting itself as a way to win next time. They’re also ready to go through with a whole new round of gerrymandering.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/electi ... p-n1259305" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

What is the interest of the Arizona RNC in keeping, say, the out-of-precinct ballot disqualification rules on the books?" Justice Amy Coney Barrett asked Michael Carvin, the lawyer arguing before the Supreme Court Tuesday on behalf of Arizona Republicans that two of the state's voter suppression laws should be upheld. He answered truthfully: "Because it puts us at a competitive disadvantage relative to Democrats. Politics is a zero-sum game. And every extra vote they get through unlawful interpretation of Section 2 hurts us, it's the difference between winning an election 50-49 and losing an election 51 to 50." What that transcription doesn't include is how Barrett was desperate to cut him off in the middle of that last sentence.

Voting rights advocates responded immediately, zeroing in on the partisan goal.

"Wow," tweeted Wendy Weiser, a leading voting rights expert and vice president of the Democracy Program at the Brennan Center for Justice at the NYU School of Law. "This year, there is no longer a quiet part."

Are you calling me a white supremacist? I voted republican.

Your painting with a pretty broad brush, kindly provided to you by the 1%er narrative being rammed down your throat since 2016.
The illegal votes that the POTUS was referring to included several variations of laws either being broken, subverted, or ignored.
You defend the democrats with your racist bullshit narrative, which is so easy to throw on any Caucasian these days, and it sticks unchallenged.

A push for voter id mandates is not racist.
34 states already have voter id laws.
These states don't
California, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Wyoming
These states were democratic wins. Biden won in all states listed above. No other states won by Biden had Photo ID required.
They all either only request ID or request/require non photo ID. These state's laws are classified as NON-STRICT.

California – 55 *
New York – 29 *
Illinois – 20 *
Pennsylvania – 20 *
Michigan – 16 #
New Jersey – 14*
Virginia – 13 #
Washington – 12#
Arizona- 11#
Massachusetts – 11*
Minnesota – 10*
Maryland – 10*
Wisconsin – 10#
Colorado – 9#
Connecticut – 7#
Oregon – 7*
Nevada – 6*
New Mexico – 5*
Hawaii – 4#
New Hampshire – 4#
Rhode Island – 4#
Delaware – 3#
District of Columbia – 3*
Vermont – 3*
Maine – 3*
Nebraska – 1*

There is strong evidence here that the Democratic party holds an advantage in states where voter id is not STRICT.
But I don't see any evidence that these laws are racist, other than the 1%er media advocating that rationale.
Show me how you think that it would be so difficult for a non white person to obtain a photo id, that doesn't make you sound like a complete racist yourself.

nope, I said:
"... without voting suppression we the white supremacist republicans are at a disadvantage... in front of the Supreme Court. Out loud."
White supremacist is a modifier to the noun Republican.

That is in the set a republicans there is a subset of white supremacists also in the set of Republicans there is a subset of non white supremacist Republicans.

That is voting for Republican doesn't necessarily make you a white supremacist, but you may be if seeing voter suppression, which has historically targeted poc, as not racisism.

So if requiring a voter id is "jim crow", it is because people of color are too ____________ to obtain a government form of id.

Please fill in the blank because I'm trying to understand how this is perceived as white supremacy.

You could answer "poor", "busy", or something along those lines, but that removes the racial narrative. Lot's of variously pigmented people are one or the other.

So whatever your answer is, it has to be from the perspective of your own white supremacy. That somehow people with shaded skin are incapable of accomplishing the simple task of getting an ID to vote. Is it driver suppression to require POCs to have a driving permit?

Dog whistle : illegal votes

Post by ben ttech »

if your a mexican voting, on average you stood in line twice as long as whites to vote
and four times as much if you were black

voter id targets student, the elderly and the working poor for elimination from eligible rolls

we decided pretty early on that poll taxes are illegal
requiring ANYTHING more than simply voting itself was an undue burden

for along time it was tests and fees

mandating what ID they HAVE ALREADY is a wicked crime...
