Not to be rude, yet I'll fearlessly stick my oar into the discussion.

The Vikings considered Christianity to be the religion of slaves.

Given the constant preaching to endure your fate, heaven or the next life will be better.

Vikings would revolt first and then enjoy their freedoms. They would not live the life of a slave (as the vast majority of US citizens now do).
