The bag says you are good for about a month in terms of ferts already added.

I add about one third perlite to my final mix. That means you'll run out of ferts before a month so fertilize appropriately.
If Muley can scruff along i can too.

Yeah i find the foxfarm is good stuff, but is a little light on the perlite for canna.

sounds as if 1/3 of the mix is perlite is too much, too little water retention, defeats an advantage of using organic soil IMO. Will be watering more then optimal.
I added about a quart of perlite to the last bag of foxfarm Worked great.

As for nutrients, you MUST watch yer plants for that, completely ignore what the manufacture says, but a month is probably close to right

Thank you innie, spared me saying the same thing. 1/3 is waaaay too much perlite to add, you'd get a better result adding none at all.

well it works fine for me. I also add a fair amount of peat moss.
but I use supersoil instead of foxfarm, so maybe that makes a difference.
a 2 gallon pot will go from watered to dry in about 4 days.
I wouldn't want it to stay wet longer than that...
like they used to, before I started doing so.

Learn to water your salts in when the plants need it.

Each grow medium has it's own peculiar "fingerprint" acid or not acid. Lime juice? Anyone.

I by happenstance are now mixing 1 5 gallon bucket of perlite with 1 5gallon bucket of spagnum peat moss.. So we will see how far this goes. So is that 50% by 50%.

Techinically, I haven't actually done the mixing yet but I have the producets. Awaiting my babies to get strong enough to face the world.

I'm having trouble with a light manufacturer and delivery problems.
