Raygun didn't know shit about how to create a good economy. Volker cut interest rates from sky high levels to much lower levels. That's where Rayguns economic recovery came from. Not because of trickle down or the really c ornball idea that he "unleashed entrepreneurial spirit".

The price cut in oil is kind of a similar windfall except the consumer is so much weaker after 35 years of Repub and Dem class war that it can hardly breathe life into the economy anymore.

In 1983 drywall was completely dead. Then Volker cut interest rates and my phone would not stop ringing. It was the most rapid reversal I had ever seen. I was working a shit factory job. The kind that kills your soul. Within 2 months I went from $180 per week to about $800 ( with side work ).

It was like somebody found the good economy / bad economy switch and flipped it to "good economy". Pretty much showed that this crap about how government can t make the economy better is a load of manure.
