so were screwed the landscape to scrape up the last of the last of this stuff
and what did we get for it?

subject to world 'market prices

where we export a huge percentage of the stuff instead of making it available as a national security issue?!!?!?

those pipelines are all to get the stuff to old refineries with waivers of epa rules so it can be process and then straight onto ships for export

You could tap any of our remaining petroleum reserves but we will still run out, be in same position but then without our natural resources. Optimally it's better to preserve. rather than down the road be out of oil and wilderness.

Good thing that the government just leased energy companies rights to build a wind farm off east Coast. it's over a 300 billion dollar package largest investment ever, even for oil, but for green energy.

"Fossil Fuel CEOs Making 'Unconscionable Profits' Amid Ukraine Crisis: Analysis"

"The fracking industry is seeking a long-term strategy to deepen global dependence on dirty fossil fuels," said one researcher. "It is nothing short of a cynical exploitation of a genuine crisis."

"The value of Cheniere CEO Jack Fusco's company stock is up $25 million from January to March 10. ExxonMobil CEO Darren Woods' stock holdings have increased by $25 million over the same period. The value of Kinder Morgan CEO Steven Kean's stock has jumped nearly $15 million. Some of these corporate leaders have sold shares to cash in on the crisis. ConocoPhillips' Ryan Lance sold shares for $23 million in mid-February, while Chevron's Michael Wirth sold $14 million in stock by late February."

These charts seem to show, we have plenty of reserves now. Look how small the imports are.
Big oil has been the proponent for solar farms, as every one has a gas pipe to it.
Solar farms are stupid.
Coal burning power generation, is just a pollution terrorist's at best.

Thanks webeblzr, from yer above link:
The United States has proven reserves equivalent to 4.9 times its annual consumption. This means that, without imports, there would be about 5 years of oil left (at current consumption levels and excluding unproven reserves).

I've got used to paying a lot for fuel in the EU so $5+ a US gallon doesn't seem so crazy.
