How the Liberals were fooled by the Leftists
Here's a couple things to chew on...
Janet Yellen (Treas Sec) has written a recommendation to the IMF that a minimum corporate tax of 15% be established world-wide, under the guise of stopping big corporations from tax shopping countries for the lowest rate. What they don't mention is how this creates a huge entry barrier for domestic corporations in developing countries...or how tarifs can easily eliminate tax shopping.
Saw someone's 80 year timeline theory for the US. Theory is that aboot every 80 years, we start at the end of a catastrophic event, and procede to another catastrophic event to end the 80 year period. They went even further breaking down the 80 year period into four 20 year generations. Not sure if I buy into it, but...
End of Revolutionary War...1783
End of US Civil War...1865
End of WW II...1945
?????????...2028 <--- was his prediction of when this period's catastrophic event will end.

Janet is opening the gate of global taxation. Remember that the original income tax in the U.S. was only imposed on corporations. It was introduced to the individual's income during ww2 and was called the Victory Tax, and was only and by law supposed have a life of 2 years... well that didn't work out very equitably. No doubt, the impending onset of ww3 will give way to another "victory tax" for the global citizen.

False. The US permanent form of individual income tax was established in 1913. While billed as a method for the government to help cover it's costs, the true nature of the tax was to allow the country to incur debt using the ability to collect future taxes as collateral for that debt.

Yes, but the income was not that of labor but of gains.
The Supreme Court in Brushaber v. Union Pacific Railroad, 240 U.S. 1 (1916), indicated that the amendment did not expand the federal government's existing power to tax income (meaning profit or gain from any source) but rather removed the possibility of classifying an income tax as a direct tax on the basis of the source of the income.
When I said "income" below, I was thinking "labor income".
The 16th Amendment began the individual taxation of corporate gains.
The victory tax was when they began to determine that wages were also income.... if I remember, I quite researching taxes a while back.

This case, as well as many others since then, was to clarify the distinction between income derived from property and income derived from labor. The reason for this was because income derived from property was supposed to be apportioned equally among the states based on population...whereas that requirement did not apply to income derived from labor. The court had to determine which classification various types of income fell under, because of that difference.
Hit this...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Income_ta ... _top_rates
...and scroll down to the table labeled 'History of income tax rates adjusted for inflation (1913–2013)'. The useful information provided are: the number of tax brackets, the tax rate of the first bracket, the tax rate of the top bracket, and the dollar threshold of the top bracket.
The historical significance of tax rates was never really addressed in my tax courses in college. So when I did the research for writing 'Paying for...the cost of war', I was horrified to discover...we quit paying for our wars in 1982, and started putting those costs on the national debt. And we have continued that practice ever since.

I never saw those 82- numbers, that does tell a story.
But back to my original remark on Yellen, I still see it as the gateway tax to an individual global tax, which may very well be enforced by the corporations too with a VAT tax or some other method of sourced collection.
Inflation is the real tax increase coming.

this was back in the years before theyd figured out to call us paper terrorists
back then the cops would just shake their head in bewilderment
