Sippin' With Grafik : 30 Gallon Sub Irrigated Bins

Post by deran »

a few years ago, i became crazy, as i sprouted an automatic strain, actually a whole pack , it was something Afghani and i cant even remember the breeder, i got them for free at the canna fest in Prague , you know the ganja/growing fair, an awesome come together party for us Europeans, and as most know, the ganja "crews" are only a few, and you can talk directly to the breeders, and they open their eyes very wide when you tell em your user name from the forums, nd they remember you, thats a cool feeling, family like ..

anyways, im sue you are familiar with the air-pots , you know those plastic pointed and hole drilled pots, that you have to roll and to insert the bottom, to make a "container" for the substrate, as you can use anything you choose

well i found out, that automatics have this main tap root, an bc its autos, you have to make so much room for the main tap root, as you can, bc only then you will get most out of the genetics, as soon as the main tap root gets stressed and or slowed down, for example due to re-potting, which you should also avoid, the growth / yield , slows down.
its best to sprout automatics directly into their final big pot, and not doing any transplanting or such things

so i thought a bit an counted one plus one and got the best return !

i took 2 air pots (each about 25 or so liters) and stacked em one upon another, so i made one pot out of twp pots, it was double the hight and hold place for a whole bag of grow mix 50 liters

so i stacked also some dirt, the bottom got the stronger nuted all mix, with en ec of 1.8 , i put 25 liters of it into the bottom, and topped up the rest with light mix ec of 1,2 or 1,3 , my reasoning was, that when the plant grows and the main tap root hits the botton, the all mix would help in boosting more growth and yield

i sprouted the seed directly within those double height air-pots and thought of ideas like stacking even more together, it would be easy to form a pot the size of 100 liters for the roots, but that would be something only for big outdoor plants

anyways i choose only 2 seeds of the 5 pack, and had them in those double air-pots and they grew rly well, considering their location on a nearly north facing terrace at 52 degrees north, in the end each plant delivered only 25 grams and the high wasnt that strong nor that yummy, it was a guerrilla situation, i mean i didnt had two water the pots, the rain was taking care of it

i didnt had any other plants or someting that i could make some observations

in the end it as all smoked up within a week or so lol

just that as an idea, if you happen to cross routes with air-pots
awoken the right way

Hey Deran,

Thank you for sharing, I appreciate it honestly.

I have been looking at Air Pots - Funny enough inspired when I saw Ben's posting here 'POTPORN'

As I knew of these before they didn't interest me much; I saw a youtube video in there where they created these giant channels with them instead of conventionally wrapping them around the included base.

For the autoflower, and me - I have grown to like the timetable. As in like a game of chess

Thank you for ur response mi compa. Just ordered a few Smart Pots ~

Thank you White Hot ~

If I put one of my plants in the bin I would get in trouble. Like Jack in the Bean Stalk ~ Some type of beacon for aliens to fuel their ship.

Maybe when I get a piece of land and no neighbors

Anyways, She's eye level now.. can't see the top;

The holes are from birds landing on it eating lil' leaf hoppers and other bugs.

Their beaks and feet leave lil holes ~

Thank u my bro ~

I didn't transplant this one real good or early so I think we may not get as much vertical as I was shooting for.. Oh well, maybe next time.

I pay too much attention to the leaves.. I love me some big leaves, it's like my thing..
But pest also like big leaves too! I'm glad for the birds and also been having these ladybugs come about recently. Really nice paint jobs on their shells ~
