I checked the Remote Sensor a couple of times while I was away today and I'm sure the light was off the first time I checked and then the temperature did increase the next time I checked but it didn't seem to be what it should be with lights on.

Screenshot My AcuRite 0001 03262021.jpg

Then 72.8°F when I first got back to the schoolhouse...

Screenshot My AcuRite 0002 03262021.jpg

I've been wondering all day what could possibly be going on. I only set 2 events, one to turn the light off a 12pm and one to turn the light back on at 6pm. Well, when I cycle through those 2 events it automatically forwards to the 3rd event, which I did not program - BUT, I did notice last night that DUSK was visible on the screen. I did not program that event but 'maybe' it registered as IF I did.

I just went through all 22 of the remaining events and zeroed them out and took them to the "Skip" option. That may have been what happened last night - I think. That's the only thing I can come up with. I watched several videos on programming that exact model of Intermatic timer and none mentioned what should be done with the balance of the events you don't use.

Intermatic Programming 0001 03262021.jpg

Intermatic Programming 0002 03262021.jpg

Intermatic Programming 0003 03262021.jpg

With all the unused events now zeroed and skipped, if it happens again it wasn't that.

I do have another timer I can throw at it. It looks brand new and I don't recall ever using it.

I'm hoping it was just the other events I didn't program but I also didn't "skip" them either...

Oh, the light was on...but temps are 72.6°F right now.

That's weird! I was having a hard time keeping it under 81°F.

That's all I got. I'll install the passive intake vent tomorrow (nearly tomorrow now, later tomorrow :winky:).

Make it a great day!

That looks to have done the trick!

5-In-1 Weather Station Remote Sensor 0001A 03272021.jpg

5-In-1 Weather Station Remote Sensor 0002A 03272021.jpg

With that, we are officially in Veg (after many failures and setbacks)....let's see how these ladies go.

I don't have much hope in the second batch of transplants but if they keep trying I'll keep letting them! I have the extra buckets

And then with this very generous package,

20210326_201321.jpg

I'm going to need another bucket system! :winky: I have already been pondering how I think that will go. I think I can use the 2 gallon buckets to Veg in and IF I use the 5 gallon net pots I can take them straight from the 2 gallon buckets and into the 5 gallon buckets I plan to have up and running when they are needed. Not this grow but hopefully the next.

Hi Mister G

Getting 'one' aspect of it dialed in does feel like an accomplishment, yes. Still much work yet to do to get it 'all' dialed in but I will get there.

Good to have you peeking it!

Thanks, Mister G! :smoke:

Okay, got the Doran DV99 Light Tight Darkroom Louver (passive intake vent) installed...at least until I do something more permanent up there. It's not square to the space because I didn't staple the P&S plastic square to the space, being one person it was difficult to work both sides :winky:

Doran DV99 Light Tight Darkroom Louver 0008 03272021.jpg

Doran DV99 Light Tight Darkroom Louver 0009 03272021.jpg

I also figured out why the temps were not where I thought they should be with Lights On...I forgot to lower the bulb on the chain when I got done light-proofing the space the other day!!!

5-In-1 Weather Station Remote Sensor 0004A 03272021.jpg

I thought that 'might' have been the reason! :roflmao:

Now going to build a mount for the AC Infinity CLOUDLINE T6 Inline Duct Fan's Temperature Humidity Controller, Going to build a mount attached to the ceiling panel then mount the controller to that.

Then, I plan to get started on addressing the Cloning Machine, the machine itself and that space. This will include a stand I have in mind for the machine, a shelf underneath and potentially a hanger of some sort on top when I want to temporarily move the light frame out of the way. Going to consider a humidity dome for it too. I may have to build one. I can't find one that is approximately 23-1/2 x 28-1/2 in size. I found a dome that would let me use 2 of the same size to approximately cover that top. Right now, I think I'll have to buy some thin-ish plexiglass and build one.

I did notice the girls (the first group of transplants) are looking much better already. Dropping the PPMs helped! Leaves are perking up and not curling under! Good color returning! I'll try to get some pictures of them right before Lights On tomorrow.

I have a box that 'I might' be able to temporarily cover the MH bulb with just for pictures....I've put off trying it, although every time I see the box I think about it! :roflmao:

I did get the AC Infinity T6 Controller mount made and mounted...

AC Afinity Controller Mount 0007 03282021.jpg

DANG, that's pretty wood!

AC Afinity Controller Mount 0011 03282021.jpg

I may (likely to) move the mount. I still need to move that AC Infinity T6 180°which will change how the wires run.

And then I worked on some numbers and a couple of drawings for the Cloning Machine stand w/shelves.

Cloning Machine Stand Drawings 0001 03282021.jpg

Cloning Machine Stand Drawings 0002 03282021.jpg

Above are just rough ruminations. Looking at the numbers and playing with design and form.

Make it a great day!

WHAB Vegetative Loft...Lights Off Debut...

Postby WhiteHotAfterburner » Sun Mar 28, 2021 1:07 pm

Photo Day - Veg Day 2:

Still have to moderate the nutes - they're at 650ppm as of yesterday. There is obvious evidence of nute burn, some leaves still curled under and that one is drooping worse than the others. The labels are mostly visible. The one in the back is a Raspberry Cough. The nearest image, the last one is a Tangerine Dream x C99 (the one when I transplanted it I was sure was dead).

I'm just focusing on the first batch of transplants into the 2 gallon buckets. The second batch of transplants are still alive but they're not doing much. They are producing new leafs, tiny leafs...

WHAB Cloning Machine Stand Idea...

Postby WhiteHotAfterburner » Sun Mar 28, 2021 2:09 pm

Here's a Cloning Machine Stand design idea that just struck me...

Cloning Machine Stand Drawings 0003 03282021.jpg

I haven't hit on a way to make the shelf supports across the front of the lower section, yet.

I really like the side profile.

Re: WHAB: Still Forming Woodworking Shop & Future Grow Resid

Postby WhiteHotAfterburner » Sun Mar 28, 2021 9:03 pm

I screwed up last night. I was at my desk and the Fill pump came on, not unusual by itself, but the way it was running was unusual. So unusual that it forced me to go figure out what was going on.

It was "topping" off the buckets even though it was draining at the same time. I climbed back up to the Ebb&Gro controller and just took a good look at it. I was just fiddling with things trying to determine what was happening. I was really puzzled. I took the Drain pump out and discovered there was some sort of slime on the intake of the pump (on the bottom of the controller, pointing down, that is). I took the pump and and down to the sink. I cleaned the slime off of it and checked to make sure it was still working. It was still working.

I still don't know what the 'white' slime was. IF I had to compare it to something to try to explain it to someone I'd say it looked like a waterlogged paper towel. Still intake in its position before you touch it, then it falls apart. I know I didn't leave a paper towel in the controller, but that's the only thing I can compare it to.

Well, you remember me saying the plants were still a little curled under and that one was droopy with the first Lights Off pictures earlier?

I forgot to plug the Drain pump back in last night. The plants have been sitting in full buckets since last night, sitting in a nutrient bath the entire time. I flooded them!  :roflmao:

I didn't realize what had happened until the pump came on when it was scheduled to come on and all it did was run for a second or two - it was topping the buckets off - they were already full when Fill time came around! :roflmao:

They're already looking better - AGAIN!!! :roflmao:

I think I may just wind up killing these girls, one way or another! :roflmao:

your hardware has a naming problem, its called doran - and thats plain wrong - it should be deran ;)

on a side note, to cut times and problems ... just run em for 24 hours on, i mean its veg, you are killing 2 flies with one move, the added 6 hours of light will make use of your 1.4 EC , which imho aint too much, i say that because the European grow mix (of choice from BIO BIZZ) , is exactly called - LIGHT MIX - has an EC of 1,2 , and i do start seedlings with that peat based soil mix, your plants are big enough to eat 1,4 EC (btw i dont like ppm nor tds, because they are a computed values that are based on electric conductivity , ec is always the same, around the whole globe, but tds and ppm have different interpretations, so one manufacturer uses EC of 1,4 to calculate it to 700ppms , while another has a reading of 500ppms, another of 900ppms; and exactly this misinterpretations lead to elementary bingo = which element is missing, and how much of it is missing, thats a never ending swirl into trouble; just fuck it, and only use EC values plz, its for the good of all mankind), i might even tempted to bring the ec value up to 1,6 - by only judging the bigger plants, but i dont wanna interfere as you already diagnosed on overfeed, it is what it is, so lets move on and lower your PH down to 5,5 or even better 5,2 , you will see improvements , also PH swings are a good thing as they favor different uptake rate speeds, you dont have anything to loose, have you? ;)

so by saying have a great day, i respond, have even a greater night :smoke:

I literally thought of that when I typed it out :roflmao:

I thought 1.4 EC straight out of 'no nutes' rooting (cloning machine) is a pretty strong concoction. I don't have a problem working up to stronger nutes, steps at a time.

You wouldn't give a Heroin user a 1 gram injection on their first day, you work them up to it! :roflmao:

And, yes, I wholeheartedly agree on your E.C., PPM, TDS statement. I use ANY of them just as a point of reference. I tend to relate E.C. to the 500ppm scale, again, just as a point of reference. I do use E.C. in practice. I relate it to PPM when informing others. I have to know a target before I can hit it.

I am aiming for a pH of 5.5. It was sitting at 5.7 the last time I checked. I can't chase 5.5 from 5.7. It is a never ending back-and-forth battle. I try to lower it from 5.7 and the next thing I know it's 4.7, then up above 6. IF I can hit from 5.5 to 6 I'm happy until the numbers change on their own. My pH out of the faucet is over 7. I do agree on the pH swings. It does allow the plant to adsorb at different rates at different times.

I don't say "have a great day", Doran! :winky: I say "Make" it a great day. People have choices in life. They can decide to "make" their day great or they can decide not to! :winky:

Make it a great evening, Doran! :winky:

:roflmao:

All the best, brother!,

WHAB Vegetative Grow Loft Day 4

Postby WhiteHotAfterburner » Wed Mar 31, 2021 8:44 pm

Since my last post, I took a day off :frown:. The next day, yesterday, I woke up laying on my back AGAIN and I was IR all day (even though I did go up and cut the Tits-On-A-Bull Strong-Backs back to route the duct later in the evening).

Photo Day - Veg Day 4:

AcuRite remote sensor...

5-in-1 Remote Sensor Veg Day 4 03312021.jpg

pH has crept up to a fluctuating 5.7, 5.8, 5.9, 6.0. Gonna knock it down a tad bit.

E.C. is at 1.4.

Reservoir temperature is 67.8°F

I have to get a yardstick to monitor vertical growth.

Sets of images. 2 images per plant or pair of plants. First from top, second is profile of same plant or plants. I will continue all updates in this fashion.

These are just before Lights On, so they've been resting for 6 hours. Leaves have been reaching up in Lights On

Veg Day 4 0008 03312021.jpg

Veg Day 4 0009 03312021.jpg

Veg Day 4 0010 03312021.jpg

Veg Day 4 0014 03312021.jpg

Veg Day 4 0015 03312021.jpg

That second from that last image, the plant on the left is a Second Transplant that should be dead! :winky:

I am admittedly a little rusty at this and I have looked everywhere and I can't find a definitive answer. The light green color of the leaves; is that a deficiency or just new growth?

I thought it was either a deficiency or a toxicity. I'm not sure and I can't find definitive answer.

I have made some progress in the attic. I have rerouted the AC Infinity T6 out the West side (back side of 1924 Schoolhouse) as mentioned above. I have not ducted it out the eave yet. Will try and get that done.

I'm going up now to permanently installed that vertical truss support, the vertical truss support I replaced that was rotten. I had not come up with a great idea on how to get up there to reach it, then I remembered I had the cutoff steps from the attic ladder. I had to borrow it as I had already given it away! :roflmao:

Should have some pictures of that work the next time I come down.

WHAB Truss Support

Postby WhiteHotAfterburner » Thu Apr 01, 2021 12:49 am

Pretty sketchy shit right here! :roflmao:

I had to span the just installed attic ladder opening to build a platform to hold up one leg of the foldable cutoff from the attic ladder steps, the other leg is standing on a cutoff scrap! :roflmao:

Attic Support 0003 03312021.jpg

Attic Support 0004 03312021.jpg

These 3 pictures are showing the setup from the bottom to the top. I couldn't get it all in frame from that angle.

Attic Support 0005 03312021.jpg

Attic Support 0006 03312021.jpg

Attic Support 0007 03312021.jpg

I couldn't get it all in one frame from the other side either, close though.

Attic Support 0009 03312021.jpg

Standing back 3 or 4 bays I got it in one frame.

Attic Support 0008 03312021.jpg

Thinking about it now, I haven't fallen through the Luan ceiling panels once! I haven't even stepped on a ceiling panel - yet! :roflmao:

I got all the tall work done for now. I wasn't able to install a gusset at this point. I used the 3/4 inch plywood for the floor in the Veg/Grow space

I also haven't connected the bottom of that vertical support yet, either. I will do both later.
