Well, an 8 foot wide ceiling isn't going to work. With that piece of original 1924 tongue and groove flooring as my 8'4" piece, I nailed it on both sides (and, Yeah, Butcher Bob, nails like Oak
), the ceiling would be under 6 feet. It's not perfectly level, although it looks pretty close by eye. I'll put the ceiling as high as I can, even if I have to pick up the angle rafters before I get to my width (unknown at this point).
From about the center...
Then left of center...
Right of center.
Where it lands on my previous mark.
BUT, what's even weirder? The rafters join on top with the vertical support which also meets the vertical support at the bottom chord, right?...
This is where they meet at the peak...

This is where the vertical support meets at the bottom chord...
Look where those rafters start out...
This first image below, that rafter at the pink insulation? That's the rafter that joins at the peak with that bottom chord to the left of it. That rafter starts out like 10 inches South of the bottom chord.
This is the opposite side, same condition. That rafter starts out 10 inches South of where they meet at the top, which translates to the bottom chord by that single vertical piece.
WHAT?!?!
And, then, I was completely wrong about those trusses.
They're original.
There's no way those two octogenarians stripped off all FOUR layers of roofing, including the Shakes and the strapping they're attached to, built the trusses back in place and put FOUR layers of roofing back on including Cedar Shakes and its strapping!!!
What the hell was I thinking?!?!
That other stuff is weird, that right there is down right
