i quit mixing soil a while back. i started doing layers.
at first i did not have enough castings. was castings and
steer compost. the layers were potting soil, castings, compost
and more potting soil. soil was 1/3 of the mix.
now i am doing one grain scoop of soil in bottom of pot.
then fill with castings and lightly pack. then top 2" or so
is more potting soil. has been working well. one day i might
add some perlite to the castings. like 1/4 perlite to 3/4 castings.
but seems to be working well as is.

layering eh? I have to think about that for awhile. i'm thinking ya must flood and drain when watering to keep leeching the goodness down?
I layer my veg garden beds with dirt, chopped roots (for the worms), steer manure, lime, 10-10-10, more dirt, then mix by hand. Repeat (without the chopped roots) till filled.
I was actually wondering if i needed to mix it up or leave it as layered. Then you post this.
I'll think about it.

well snake oil report. makes some large buds. plants stay
green thru most the bud cycle. has added a few weeks
till harvest. does make a different bud shape. some are not
very thick on top vs not using snake oil. if i were to try it
again i would use one time in grow and first maybe two
weeks into bud. just for the thicker stems and less stretch
in bud cycle. will update again when they get done, week 10 now.
first two photo's are of a top bud. 2nd photo is lighter sitting
on a shade leaf.

ok i tried it another time.
on some plants it would help others not good.
the mammoth p makes like 20% more leaf on plants.
for some plants that are leafy with lots of frost it would make more bud.
plants that are not leafy buds it makes them leafy. less bud meat.
i have a problem with it and my hashplant. made the crops shit...
then it stays in the pots. so i need to bleach them all and hope it dies.
so after using it a few times it is a snake oil. i would not try it.....
