I messaged roller to come in here and recap a bit of history. I remember I crashed sharkstank.com one night - heheheh! - but my memory of MGG is pretty hazy due to circumstance.

I joined OG in 2001 under a different name - "Prawn Connery" was born in 2002 in the Tank (hell, I had a whole family of prawns in the Tank: "King Prawn", "Super Prawn", "Salmonella Prawn", "Prawn Star", "Judge Prawn", "Obi Won Prawnobi", "Messiah Prawn", "Massive Mandibles", "Love Mussel", "James T Perch", "Plural of Prawn", "Psycho Prawn", "Shark Prawn") - and then Cannabis World in 2002.

Apart from Sharkstank.com, MGG and Planet Ganja, I joined Sannie's Open Grow after Gad pulled the plug on PG and the other forums I was a member of were OzStoners, THCFarmer, Rollitup, and MrNice.

After a few years, I got banned at MrNice by Jesse one night after I got on his case. It's all a bit too sucky over there, as you can imagine.

hes finally gone, and you can return safely back as the new mod is doing a great job ... i also got involved into an "online" fight with this asshole to name things / ppl adequately

bad for him: nevil and shanti were on my side ... lol .... you wouldnt believe how much dirty laundry has been washed infront of innocent users overthere , a reason to feel embarrassed for them!

Yeah, that's true - he registered the domain when he had MGG and I asked him to give it to us.

He removed one of my threads and accused me of spamming Paradise Seeds after I asked about the Neville's Haze clone Luc had used to create my Stinky Captiss. I'd been talking to Nev about it and PMed JessE to let him know it was OK by Nev. He threatened to ban me. After a few PMs, I told him to get fucked: I hadn't broken any rules and got banned over what was said in a private message. I saw him bully others on the boards, too. I didn't feel much like going back after that.

Ok, to the best of my recollection....
I was OG member roller24 when the site was live, I joined about 1 yr before RC stole the site from Shebang. It was around this time that the moderation of the tank began which ensued by a flamewar between tank folk, and the mods, at the time apparently being led by OldPink.
Soon enough RC had the tank closed. It was at this time that I opened up a very rough phpbb site at sharkstank.com, PureEvil should be credited for spamming the site on OG along with Killer Kricket, but the two of them tested the boundries of what I would moderate... Some post contained 5 and 6 pages of smilies, others were vulgar porn, and any other manner they could think of at the time.
A few tankies came to visit, but the biggest influx of traffic began after OG was confiscated by the RMP and was closed. This brought many OGer's by to see the site, those who were aware of it's existence anyway... Hardcase was the villian of the day, as were many others who thoroughly enjoyed the no holds barrred atmosphere.
WHitehat was x3no 's handle and he pm'd me to make me aware of some vulnerabilities which we fixed, and then this discussion evolved into the idea of opening a new cultivation site on a private server in the NW, so soon enough MyGanjaGrow.com was opened on a vbulletin frame. I spent 600$ on a halfpage ad in cannabis culture's 50th issue, and everything seemed like it would be great. However, x3n0 shut down the site a day after the ad came out, and we heard little of him again.
I had given him all the domain ops, so we started from scratch building planetganja.com which was
built on phpbb and self hosted.
Gadabout who was also unethical grower, offered to host the site in Canada, and had much more knowledge of security than I did, so once again I handed the site over to another in hopes of it becoming awesome, but once again, the admin closed up shop for a reason I was not aware of , due to I had become obsessed with other things irl and wasn't online alot.
Planetganja.net was opened around the same time as MyPlanetganja.com and both sites operated, but it was this one, which smokebreaks created with Oldjoints. dot net went by the wayside, and now here we are.

THis is certainly the readers digest version, but it encapsulates the journey that I remember.

: Jaybird won the ad design contest and got his avatar in the ad, it was a simple screenshot, and looked great in the copy proof, that I approved, but the printing was not as clear, and kind of disappoi ting.

But low and behold no seeds were ever delivered. The joke was on the contest entrants.
I was growing alot of bud in a tub as some of you may have read at .NET and utilized OG as my homebase for info and support, but most of all... While I was waiting out the Veg and Flower stages and grew weary only posting in the grow forums, I slipped into the sharktank for a dip.

I was like a fat kid in a cake shop. The Tank back then was politically slanted with a few flame wars from the grow forums thrown in. The mood was tense at all times, and if you said anything unsubstatiated, you were called down and became the victim of a feeding frenzy.

POM was untouchable in those days, as his intellectual wit was matched by few, King Prawn trolled the tank as well with superior writing skills, and roller24 was trolling daily for fresh meat. I particularly liked the taste of DankDuck.
Saltwatergirl, Topaztic, and many friends were made there, along with numerous foes.
Then one cold winter's eve, while Shabang was on Holiday (every other month) the tank forum was locked due to numerous complaints by the more serious(sensitive) growers. Days later the tank got flushed.
What was I going to do? I wasn't about to troll members of the Texas Resin Company in the grow threads, as moderation was heavy due to the tank closure. So I did exactly what smokebreaks did and modded a phpbb into sharkstank.com hoping to capture the same atmosphere of free speech as the forum at OG. PureEvil(phunk) was my first member there, and my first member at every other tank and site that Ive opened, including .NET. He has a special place in my heart. His most memorable post was right after I told him that the only moderation that would be done, would to keep a members anonymity and nothing else. So he and Killer Kricket posted several topics with hundreds and I mean hundreds of smilies for page after page after page. It was obnoxious but funny as hell.
The site peaked after Ethical Grower showed up claiming to have some OG information he was about to out to the public using the Tank as his forum. GOD(a very active member) apparently got the info in a PM and the ruckus built up for what seemed like a month. I finally realized that Ethical G was no other than Uber, up to his old pranks. The gig was up, but by now, the mistrust of the tank led to a rapid decline in member activity, and it began to fade. In the mean time Whitehat joined and informed me of a small security issue with the site and helped me fix it before it became compromised.
His OG handle was x3n0 and he had saavy cpu skills. Prawny gave the rest of the story of MGG and PG in his aforementioned post.
As for the past couple of years, I havent been growing, so my posting frequency has declined immensely. I hit rock bottom hard in my last business venture (restaurant) and was totally absorbed in that debacle while PG was growing to a site that would rival it's mother, OG. I still browsed the site regularly, and posted as Satanclaws at xmas time. Where is Hellboy anyway?
My X moved south with my two youngest children, so I finally threw in the towlie on my shop, and moved down here as well.
Prior to .COM's demise, I began doing some cpu stuff to generate some extra income as my 10$/hr janitorial position is not even close to what I am accustomed to earning and barely enough to make ends meet. Im at the cpu a few hours each day, so I decided to reopen the planet with one goal in mind.
To stay online for as long as I was capable of staying on line, and then passing the site to someone else to keep alive should I become unable to do so. Two Great sites were yanked out from under the feet of a DEDICATED membership, and SO much grow knowledge disappeared in an instant.
Im a hardcore OGer and the idea of overgrowing the world is still the best reason to make sure that some harbor for veteren OGs and PGs and new growers can call home. If I had known that smokebreaks had opened myplanetganja.com, I would have balked, but It wasnt until I was about to go live, that prawn informed me of a potential opportunity to rebuild with smokebreaks. I'm still mulling the idea over, and Im pretty sure my software has the ability to migrate this site into it's forum, or anything else you want it to do. It's a great piece of module software, with endless features.

So before I commit to any merger, I would like to see what .COM is going to do. If Uber gets his shit together and brings back the site with db in tact, then we have served our purpose well by providing harbor to abandoned members, and can return to our home planet. OR we could join together and pay back Uber for burning me on those bigbud beans
Let's just see how the breeze blows for now.

Yeah, we fucked with the stank something wicked. Tardcase and I had a fight one night that ended up with dozens of pages of complete and utter shit - we just kept copy and pasting crap to fill up the server - until the site crashed and roller got upset with us.

But it was only for one day

I almost forgot about the first incarnation of planetganja.com - it took a lot of convincing, eh roller(?), to get you to hand it over to Gad.

Much as I'm an anarchist, it was pretty clear after the stank that there had to be some moderation. I remember PG had the bare minimum to begin with - no real details, no porn (Gad's rule - fair enough, there are trillions of porn sites) - and that was about it. Then the rules started getting longer and longer. Then PoM came along and broke what few rules we had - I don't think Gad ever forgave me for letting PoM run amok. All I wanted - like roller - was a place for everyone to be free to say whatever the fuck they wanted. It was all good fun until it started getting real . . .

I miss PE/KK - whatever happened to him?

And I remember that tub grow, roller - that was fuckin' ghetto. You were growing some type of haze hybrid (C99 F2?) and you let them veg until they got totally out of control. They all ended up burned on the light or something.
