how hards your search?
once i was young
to much to be on my own
to old to have figured it out
had to get away
out here
the desert landscapes half littered with
these ruined walls that used to have a roof
someones dream washed away
nothing a good tarp and a few screws couldnt resurrect
given a truck, tools and several paychecks id stashed away
word was out there for the rock climbing
but then just hiking around got it done
and then just staying fed
and then just watching how the shadows moved around over the course of the day
and hiding up in the rock when anyone came along
it was nice but
damn if they just cant find you no matter how good is where you are...

room to think
room to think?
you're in a cage!
its breadth is huge
its length immense
and so you ask yourself
what's really a cage?
and then i sit here
in a ten by twelve room
laptops at my fingertips
i can reach the the world
how big is a cage
before it's no longer a cage?
how small is a cage
that never feels like a cage?
about a ten by twelve room
i think is just right
it gives me room to think
you're in a cage!

it gives me room to think
The last fucking thing you want is my undivided attention...

lavish theyre praise upon what
you do nearly without thought
then they mock at your requests at substance
if only we could paint the pictures they'd see...

room to think
one day, on a windswept beach
inspiration strikes
it's there, it's right
it's all that is life
swept up in thought
you drop to the ground
and begin to draw
with great clarity
your life as it was
your life as it is
yes, it all makes sense
as you draw its conclusion
and then comes a wave
and washes it clean
and you slowly rise
and you wander away
and then, on a windswept beach
inspiration strikes

if you are thinking in a room.
you are not thinking outside of the box.
get outside some fresh air look at the sky.
take a walk along a river or stream.
thoughts will come together better.

My therapist says I am a habitual liar and an attention seeker, therefore nothing I say/write is true and under no circumstances should I be believed nor held accountable for anything I say. all photo's are paintings

room to think
I spent time homeless in the late 1970s in Florida. I know what it's like to hide to try to avoid being given a hard time by land owners or people just looking for somebody to hassle.
I was 3 miles down a dirt road far from anybody else when this old guy in a pickup truck gave me a can of beans and told me to watch out for a group of brothers that were known to harass. Little acts of kindness like that kept me in good spirits when things were bad.
Eventually got a hard labor job ( no drywall work anywhere in that area at that time ). Moved into a campground with my tent and my guitar which was left in my tent everyday when I went to work. Amazing it never got ripped off or ruined by exposure but I put it inside two garbage bags in case we got a downpour.
At night I'd come "home" exhausted, heat up a can of something on the Coleman propane stove and try to practice the best I could but you ever try practicing classical guitar in a pup tent ? It's about 2 feet too short.
My neighbour turned out to be a redneck, hillbilly bass player named "Bozo" living in a camper an working in the shipyard. One day I come home and knock on his door. I hear a faint "come in". There's Bozo lying on the bed unable to move. He had been welding all day in an enclosed space and had inhaled a shit load of fumes.
I scoop him up and head to the hospital. Fortunately he made a full recovery.
A few weeks later his wife and kid came down from Jacksonville to visit him. They stopped by. Here's this woman in a big old behive with a southern accent so thick it sounded like she was talking a foreign language. She thanked me and thanked me.
I felt good knowing Bozo had people backing him up.
